I don’t think I would actually care either way, but for those that do it deservedly leaves a negative impression. Cheating in tests to try and get better numbers does deserve negative press. I agree with removing the listing cause let’s be fair synthetic results is not useful for anyone who actually wants to compare, when it does not reflect real world performance. The Ryzen 7 5800X3D's single-core performance didn't come as a shocker. Things that people actually care about is screen (seeing a lot of high refresh rate ones now), battery (this is where you could argue cpu matters cause in Samsungs case one different then the other by a noticeable amount), and camera which seem to be getting better every year mostly. Scores for the Core i7-12700K, Ryzen 9 5900X, and Ryzen 7 5800X are from Geekbench 5's processor database. General use in apps and games don’t make a big difference. Update: The story has been updated with OnePlus statement Performance benchmarking platform Geekbench has delisted the OnePlus 9 Pro and OnePlus 9 smartphones after a report by AnandTech revealed. My S21 lasted less than a year before I got fed up with it, so I seriously doubt it would have held up long term.Ĭan I just say I don’t think we are at a point anymore where high end cpus make the world of difference on phones. #BENCHMARKS DELETED GEEKBENCH OVER CHEATING UPGRADE#My P30 Pro has lasted three years, and I still feel zero need to upgrade to anything else at the moment. ![]() Regardless of whether the average user needs it or not, if I'm paying flagship prices, I damn well expect flagship performance. ![]() #BENCHMARKS DELETED GEEKBENCH OVER CHEATING ANDROID#I've since gone back to my old Exynos S10e as a work device, now running Android 12 Pixel Experience Extended ROM, and it's been leaps and bounds faster and more reliable in day to day usage. ![]() The same performance and throttling tests on my three year old P30 Pro far outperformed the S21, because even with the older chipset it never throttled below 90ish% of it's maximum performance. When I ran benchmarks, it absolutely destroyed my P30 Pro, as it should! So why did it perform like such a slouch when actually using the thing? Then all the articles came out about them throttling the devices, and after trying some thermal throttle tests it would all be fine for about 10 minutes, at which point it'd throttle like hell and get uncomfortably warm to the touch. It baffled me as to why it started to stutter during games, or have random lag spikes in the UI when trying to get work done with the thing. If Geekbench gave the expected results, this was not the case for online tools, which can be accessed from the browser.I got rid of my S21 Exynos partly for this reason. This is the site Anand Tech Who realized that the apps were not fully functional on these devices. We have removed the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro from the Android Benchmark. What Hollywood Can Teach Us About benchmarks deleted geekbench over cheating. Huawei and Xiaomi have had similar issues with some of their devices in the past as well. The Geekbench benchmark for CPU performance is currently set to be used by. It's different but has the same effect the benchmark is no longer representative of the actual device performance. Samsung is throttling everything except for the benchmark. Some companies used to boost performance when they detected a benchmark being run. OnePlus 9 benchmarks deleted from Geekbench over cheating allegations 1. Oppo Find X Outed For Benchmark Cheating, Company Promises To Upgrade The System. Yup it's exactly the same thing companies used to do before but in reverse. We consider this a form of normative manipulation. Oppo Find X as well as the Oppo F7 have found themselves in hot water with UL Benchmarks in the past for ‘artificially producing high and misleading’ benchmark scores’. It’s disappointing to see OnePlus phones make performance decisions based on app identifiers rather than app behavior. The platform will also check if this installation is not performed on other devices of the brand. ![]() So Geekbench decided to remove the readings made from the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro from its databases. But when using offending applications, the limitation is more sensitive. In addition, OnePlus did not limit the performance of benchmark applications, such as Geekbench: therefore, both phones showed performance in line with the Snapdragon 888 chip. ![]()
